History of Southams

The firm was started in 1900 by William Southam, as agricultural auctioneers and valuers, and expanded to encompass all types of property sales and agency within the East Northamptonshire area.

In 2008 in view of the rapidly changing nature of agency, business practice and the economy, Southams became three separately owned businesses.

The Estate Agency and Property Management arms continued to operate out of Oundle with the Auctioneers & Valuers eventually making themself a new home in Bedford as part of the W&H Peacock family.

Southams – Auctioneers & Valuers

These days Southams auctions specialise in the sale of Modern Sporting Guns and Antique Arms.

Our wide experience of weapons of all kinds together with our market knowledge, auction expertise, specialist contacts and understanding of the relevant law and regulations, ensures that we can provide a complete and dedicated centre for acquisition and disposal, involving local, national and international clientele.

The offices are now permanently based in the centre of Bedford, with the sales taking place at the Eastcotts Park Auction Centre on the outskirts of Bedford.

In recent years the sales have extended to include both live internet bidding as the sale takes place and additional timed online auctions following the main event, allowing our auctions to reach a global audience.
